you must be facing the common question: where exactly I should go?
Driving your car from the southmost Dubrovnik region all the way (~1000 km) up to the northern Rijeka you can see hundereds of charming tiny villages and towns with different
character of beaches and landscapes. To choose amongst is not easy. Let me help you making your choice by driving your attention to the Middle-Dalmatian coast so called Makarska Riviera.
Either you could drive your car all the way down till this region on the recently-built Croatian highway or you could have a flight to the international airport of Split which is only 50km-s away.
Amongst this 50km-long coastal path one of the most beautiful villages is Baska Voda and the continuing Brela.
The history of this village dates back to the Roman Era till the 2nd and the 3rd centuries BC.
The name Baska Voda derives from the 'rich-water' which reflects to the village´s several natural fresh water springs.
The dominant characteristic of the village is the steeply erecting Biokovo mountains starting straight from the crystal clear sea water up almost vertically to the 1762m peak which at the same
time is the highest point of the whole Dalmatian region.
The sight of leaning pine-trees over the long-stretching beaches at the foot of the mountains:
... and the promenade with the line of palm-trees at the marina:
...immediately captivates almost everyone.
These protective embracing mountains effect positively the microclimate of the village as well. It can easily happen that while right behind the mountain it is raining on the sea-side you can´t feel anything
about it and there is sunshiny blue sky.
The more than 2700 sunny hours are the highest in the region.
